Lewis Hine

Lewis Hine was an American sociologist and photographer. He used his camera as a tool for social reform. His photos changed child labor law in the United States. He was born September 26, 1874 and died November 3 1930. Hine took pictures of a lot of kids during his lifetime and it really shows how the days were back then.

  1. Lewis Hine did for American Children what Michael Carroll did for the Romanian children. Children in the US were forced into labor and they suffered immeasurably. Because of Hine's photographs of their situation the US government passed child labor laws that give you the right to stay in school until you graduate from High School. No one can force you to work. It took time. Hopefully the Romanians will keep moving toward a better life for everyone.
